671 Single Tilt Liquid Nitrogen Cooled Straining Holder

The 671 Single Tilt Liquid Nitrogen Cooling and Straining Holder is used to elongate electron transparent specimens at controlled rates and temperatures.    

Key Features

Single pushbutton operation

• Start or stop the elongation process with the press of a button

Low backlash gear ratio

• Gear reduction needed to provide the small displacement rate required in TEM studies is achieved using a 2190:1 low-backlash, spur gear train followed by a 40:1 reduction precision worm and wheel drive

Specimen cooling

• The  tip of the specimen holder, including the fixed and moveable crossheads, are cooled using liquid nitrogen

Hexlok™ clamping screw

• Provides firm and secure clamping of the tensile specimen

Precise temperature measurement

• Temperature of the holder is monitored by a calibrated silicon diode that provides a sensitive, linear temperature response.
• The conductor rod connecting the specimen holder tip to the liquid nitrogen dewar contains an electric heater to change the specimen temperature.
